MDC-T leader Richard Morgan Tsvangirai files a US$2 million lawsuit against exVP Mphoko over gukurahundi comments which allegedly insinuated that Tsvangirai had a role in the Gukurahundi massacres
It is alleged that Mphokos statements insinuated that Tsvangirai had a role in the Gukurahundi massacres in the early 1980s in Zimbabwe.
Tsvangirai is claiming US $2 million with interest and costs in the High Court against Mphoko over false publication and wrongful, defamatory and injurious statements spoken by Mphoko on ZBC-TV,online platforms and several media on 4 and 5 February 2017.
Mphoko also told Zanu PF provincial leadership that Tsvangirai participated in Gukurahundi and played a role in an assassination attempt on the late former VPJoshua Nkomo in Masvingo along with burning down villages in Tsholotsho Matebeleland.
Mphoko went on to claim that Tsvangirai had murdered a senior Tsholotsho Cop during the Gukurahundi era.
